Coach Agency Study

Prospects4Sport are undertaking a governance and business planning exercise to establish a Coach Agency for Northamptonshire.  It is hoped that the Agency will be able to offer a more coordinated and enhanced support and service to sports coaches, enabling resources from sport to be used strategically to support the development of a sustainable 'world class' coaching system.

There are currently hundreds of coaches and providers in Northamptonshire, with little co-ordination or consistency of service.  Providers have to develop their own databases, undertake their own quality checking and accreditation, and coaches are not deployed strategically, with competing demands from programmes such as PPA in Schools, Sport Unlimited, Extended Schools, club programmes and NGB activities.

The Prospects4Sport study will:

Recommend the most appropriate the legal status and governance structure for the Coach Agency. This to include comparisons between:
a. An Agency incorporated with the existing Northamptonshire Sport governance structure
b. An Agency incorporated within a partner organisation
c. An Agency with a separate legal entity
Identify a sustainable business model for the Coach Agency, establishing the balance between the income generation activity of an employment/deployment agency and the skills and career development and quality improvement activity of a Coaching Academy
Develop a 5 year business plan to support the establishment and development of a coach agency and academy within Northamptonshire.
Identify potential funding sources for start-up capital.
