Facilitation

Fun sport

Need to bring different people together and plan joint programmes?

Need to discuss who does what to deliver on national or local targets?   Even the smallest of meetings require good facilitation to allow everyone to feel part of the discussion and reach a common consensus.

We provide external facilitation of meetings and events so that you can concentrate on the tasks rather than the process.

Our facilitation work with School Sports Partnerships, Local Authorities, Community Sports Networks and County Sports Partnerships has demonstrated again and again the value of an external, objective, skilled facilitator

Recent events facilitated by Prospects4Sport:

  • Development of Volleyball in the South West Region - Regional workshop event
  • Nottinghamshire CSP - The Future of School Sport
  • Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership Strategy Workshops
  • The County Sport Partnership Network and Dept of Health: meeting the Physical Activity targets
  • Sport Hampshire and Isle of Wight: partnership away day
  • Helping School Sports Associations and National Governing Bodies work together

Our approach to this is proven and follows a well tested methodology (the Process Iceberg ®)which looks at:

  • Strategic focus
  • Organisational structures
  • Organisational systems
  • Roles, skills, attributes and knowledge
  • Emotions and behaviours

We make sure of...

  • a listening and facilitative approach which does not lead the discussion, but rather focuses on the process so that all points of view are heard, discussed and recorded, without judgement
  • "facilitation" not "exercises", we work hard to ensure that all the discussions are progressing without blockages or misunderstandings between participants, and recognise when an appropriate intervention is required
  • incorporation of the views and needs of different groups and managing the process so that the different perceptions of organisations to the same issues are recognised
  • designing different techniques within the process, so that participants are not undertaking the same type of activity (listening, talking, walking, small groups, large groups etc) throughout the day
  • the day also needs to be practical and relevant - not just issues based consultation or networking.
